Cool down with this vibrant and refreshing homemade strawberry lemonade, made with fresh fruit and a simple syrup base. It's the perfect balance of sweet and tart for any summer gathering or a sunny afternoon.
In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and 1 liter of water. Place over medium heat and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside to cool completely.
Place the hulled and quartered strawberries into a blender and process until they reach a smooth purée consistency. For a smoother drink, you can strain the purée through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the seeds.
In a large pitcher, combine the cooled sugar water, the strawberry purée, and the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir well to ensure everything is thoroughly mixed.
Fill tall glasses with ice and pour in the lemonade. Garnish with whole strawberries if desired. This drink is best served immediately and can be kept chilled in the refrigerator for up to one day.
For a sparkling twist, replace half of the still water with chilled club soda or sparkling water just before serving. If your strawberries are exceptionally sweet, you may want to reduce the sugar slightly to maintain a tart balance.
