These air fryer dumplings come out crisp on the outside while staying juicy and tender in the center. They are a fast, low-mess way to cook fresh or frozen dumplings for lunch, dinner, or an easy snack. Serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce for a quick homemade-style bite.
Arrange the dumplings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each one so the hot air can circulate evenly.
Lightly brush or spray the dumplings all over with neutral oil. Make sure the wrappers are coated thinly and evenly to help them crisp without drying out.
Sprinkle the water over the dumplings with your fingertips, then pour any remaining water into the bottom of the air fryer basket. This added moisture helps keep the filling tender while the wrappers crisp up.
Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 minutes for fresh dumplings or 12 to 14 minutes for frozen dumplings. If you are cooking a smaller batch, start checking at the lower end of the time range.
Once the dumplings are golden and crisp, remove them from the basket and serve immediately with soy sauce, chili crisp, or your preferred dipping sauce.
Do not overcrowd the basket or the dumplings may steam instead of crisp. Frozen dumplings can go straight into the air fryer without thawing. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in the air fryer for 2 to 3 minutes to restore their texture.
