Elevate your holiday feast with this vibrant, spiced cranberry sauce featuring zesty orange and a hint of allspice. Perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, this glossy, sticky condiment is a must-have for roast turkey or festive cheese boards.
In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh or frozen cranberries, pomegranate molasses (or balsamic vinegar), orange zest, orange juice, golden caster sugar, and a pinch of ground allspice.
Place the saucepan over low heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for approximately 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries have burst and the sauce has transformed into a thick, glossy, and sticky consistency.
Taste the sauce and stir in a little extra sugar if you prefer a sweeter flavor profile. Remove from the heat and allow the sauce to cool completely before serving.
This sauce is excellent for meal prep; it keeps well in a covered container in the fridge for up to one week or can be frozen for up to two months. If the sauce becomes too thick after chilling, simply stir in a splash of water or orange juice to reach your desired consistency.
