Elevate your morning routine with this crispy, cheesy air fryer bagel sandwich featuring a perfectly cooked egg nestled right in the center. It's a quick, satisfying, and mess-free way to enjoy a classic breakfast combo.
Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F). Place the halved bagel in the basket and toast for 2–3 minutes until lightly crisp.
Remove the bagel halves. Using a sharp knife, slightly widen the hole in the top half of the bagel to ensure the egg fits easily later.
Spread the chili jam or red onion chutney on the bottom bagel slice. Layer on the grated cheddar cheese and the ham slices.
Place the top bagel half over the ham and cheese. Return the sandwich to the air fryer and cook for 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
Carefully pull the air fryer basket out. Crack the egg directly into the hole of the top bagel half. If the egg white starts to run over, gently lift the top slice slightly to let some white settle underneath.
Air fry for another 8–10 minutes, or until the egg is set to your preference and the bagel is golden brown. Season with a crack of black pepper before serving.
For a vegetarian version, swap the ham for sautéed spinach or a thick tomato slice. If you prefer a very runny yolk, start checking the egg at the 7-minute mark as air fryer models vary in intensity.
