Juicy lamb patties infused with aromatic cumin and coriander, topped with a refreshing homemade mint yogurt sauce. These Mediterranean-inspired burgers are a flavorful twist on a classic favorite, perfect for a quick dinner or weekend BBQ.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the lamb mince with the ground cumin and ground coriander.
Finely chop the parsley, including the stalks, and add it to the lamb mixture. Season generously with salt and pepper. Use your hands to mix everything together until well combined, then divide into four equal portions and shape into burger patties. Chill the patties in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (or up to 24 hours) to help them firm up.
Prepare the minty yogurt by picking the mint leaves from their stalks and chopping them finely. In a small bowl, stir the chopped mint into the plain yogurt with a pinch of salt.
Prepare the garnishes by finely slicing the Little Gem lettuce and the tomato.
Lightly rub the chilled burger patties with olive oil. Heat a griddle pan or large frying pan over high heat. Once hot, add the burgers and cook for 6-8 minutes per side until nicely browned and cooked through. Ensure there is no pink meat remaining in the center.
Split the burger rolls in half. Spread a generous dollop of mint yogurt over the base of each roll. Layer with lettuce, a slice or two of tomato, and the hot lamb burger. Serve immediately.
For the best results, avoid overworking the meat when mixing to keep the burgers tender. If you want an extra Mediterranean touch, try serving these in toasted pita bread with a side of pickled red onions.
