Spoil your pup with these wholesome, homemade treats made with buckwheat, oats, and fresh banana. They are easy to prepare, completely xylitol-free, and much healthier than store-bought alternatives.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan/gas mark 4) and line two baking trays with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the buckwheat flour, rolled oats, peanut butter, mashed banana, ground flaxseed, and melted coconut oil. Stir until the ingredients are well incorporated.
Add 4 tablespoons of water to the bowl and continue to stir until the mixture comes together into a firm dough.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin to roll it out to a thickness of approximately 5mm.
Cut out shapes using a 2cm cookie cutter and arrange the biscuits on the prepared baking trays. Gather any dough scraps, re-roll, and repeat until all the dough is used.
Bake for 18-20 minutes until the treats are golden and firm. Leave them on the tray to cool completely before serving.
Always ensure your peanut butter is strictly xylitol-free, as this sweetener is highly toxic to dogs. For a crunchier texture, you can leave the biscuits in the turned-off oven for an extra 10 minutes after the baking time is up. Store the treats in an airtight container for up to one week.
