
Check the chocolate cake mix label to make sure it is vegan, with no eggs, milk, butter, whey, or other dairy-based ingredients.

Line the inside of a mini crockpot with parchment paper, leaving enough overhang to help lift the cake out after cooking.

In a mixing bowl, stir the chocolate cake mix and water together until the batter is smooth and no dry pockets remain. Pour the batter into the lined crockpot and spread it evenly.


Cover and cook for 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.


Lift the cake out using the parchment paper and transfer it to a wire rack. Let it cool slightly, then peel away the paper before slicing and serving.
